Rex Wakefield Wellness, a two-story fitness and healthcare center in Raleigh, N.C., provides the ever growing North Raleigh community with an accessible and enduring healthcare and fitness facility. This project exemplifies all the inherent benefits of Tilt Up: cost savings and fast-track delivery during construction, and sound control, durability, fire resistance, and lower operating costs after completion.
The design-build team was able to save the developer both time and money by converting to Tilt-Up versus other construction methods. Having successfully designed several healthcare facilities of this nature, the contractor was able to provide a building model and fixed pricing. The fitness and healthcare center boasts architectural thin brick and stone designs with colored joints.
Tilt-Up was the obvious choice for this facility in that its load-bearing, insulated curved panels eliminate columns, which provides clean, open space in the gymnasium and indoor track areas. In addition, concrete’s natural ability to withstand corrosive environments made Tilt-Up the ideal choice for their indoor pool. Overall sound control was accomplished by utilizing the high density of concrete, which deadens noise from the pool and gym areas.
Tilt-Up’s innovation in design allowed the architects to create outstanding aesthetic appeal and kept their vision alive.
