Summarize the project's program, features and achievements.
Crossroad Commerce Center located in Birmingham, Alabama is the first of two buildings intended as a distribution center. This project included a total of 186,600 SF in floor area with 6" slab on grade in the interior of the building. This project included a total of 77 tilt-up panels to create a total of 60,176 SF of net wall surface area with the tallest panel measuring just over 44' in height and 8" in thickness. Martin Concrete's subsidiary, Full Tilt Crane Services, successfully erected all tilt-up panels. A 27,390 SF dock apron and dolly strip space were added and incorporated into the project scope of work, days before concrete panel placement. When finished, the project featured an intricate reveal design that completed a finished modern look for the distribution center.
What obstacles were overcome related to the schedule, budget, program, specification, site, etc. on this project?
Multiple changes in design while panels were being formed/prepped. Added dock pits and panel design changed within a few days prior to panel concrete placement. With a detention pond on West side of property, proper planning was needed to get all panels poured and be able to lift panels
