DIVCON, Inc. began to design their world headquarters with several goals in mind. The structure needed to exude durability, sustainability and also be cost-effective. In addition, the building had to possess unique qualities but still “fit in” with the other buildings in the Pinecroft Business Park. A noticeable attribute of the DIVCON, Inc. building is the commitment to concrete.
The shell is comprised of insulated Tilt-Up sandwich panels, which are energy efficient and built with sustainability in mind. The exterior finishes include cast-in brick, as-cast concrete, sandblasted concrete, stone textured formliner and polished concrete; all of which utilize colored ready-mixed concrete. Concealed by stone textured Tilt-Up fence panels, all outdoor storage matches the color and texture of the building itself. The main entry is accentuated by a horizontal concrete panel that gives the appearance of floating on the glass storefront. Even the front sidewalk utilizes colored concrete, tying the project together. The main entry includes polished concrete columns with a polished concrete floor.
All of the interior surfaces of the sandwich panels were textured and painted, with the majority of the floor surfaces being either polished or burnished concrete. The use of concrete on the inside of the building provides durability as well as added thermal mass, which helps minimize temperature swings inside the building. The building resides in an area of Tilt-Up buildings with cast-in brick.
