The owner of the Strathman Sales building wanted a temperature-controlled beer distribution center that would be functional but would avoid the 'generic box' look. The solution was a tilt-up structure utilizing cast-in-place thin brick, not only in the office but throughout the distribution area of the building.
A form liner representing split-face block along with formed quoins, were utilized to achieve a more classic look. Thermomass's insulated panel system was installed to maintain the building temperature requirements more efficiently than traditional insulating systems. Because of the numerous interior demising walls constructed out of tilt-up, panel, casting area was limited and temporary casting beds were necessary to cast all of the panels. Not only was load-bearing tilt-up construction less expensive than precast panels, but several weeks were deducted from the schedule when comparing to precast.
