Built to accommodate the growing need for jobs within the local community, the new Peninsula Town Center Building F & H is an open-air mixed-use development on the site of the original “Coliseum Mall” amongst a 13 building facility. Through the redevelopment of this mall, Tilt-Up provided an outdoor meeting place for patrons, and created the only “town center” in the region with its unique architecture, mix of restaurants and specialty stores.
Surrounded by 10 buildings totaling 750,000 square feet, Tilt-Up construction was used for two of the buildings, which totaled 122,000 square feet. Using Tilt-Up for these buildings kept the cost of the project under budget and on schedule, because the Tilt-Up panels were able to be erected quickly and efficiently.
Located next to Interstate I-64 with easy access to restaurants and shopping, this 259,040-square-foot structure posed intense challenges during construction. Building H, a 195,000-square-foot retail/commercial office facility, with its long, narrow configuration and three-story height, presented challenges to the construction team, which called for innovative thinking and complex problem solving. In addition, a 63-foot tall wall panel bracing and the structural steel members required extensive coordination to ensure success. Building F, a 64,000-square-foot retail structure, was completely clad with thin brick faced concrete wall panels.
