The Colegio e Iglesia Bautista Cristiana Project is a three-story Tilt-Up religious and educational building conceived to recreate an open bible on the plan view. The hard cover of the book is on the east side of the building. The book pages are recreated with the parallel configuration wall panels on the north and south side of the building. Colored panel walls are manufactured using white cement and white limestone aggregate to recreate a natural beige color of an antique bible paper.
The building holds the school and a Christian Baptist Church. The church roof area was made with metal deck and lightweight concrete topping. The school slabs were fabricated with a two-way stay waffle slab, the school roof was fabricated in metal deck topped with lightweight concrete. The church area has a clearance height of 30 feet.
Tilt-Up wall panels were used in this project because the low bearing capacity of the soil forced the used of cast-in-place concrete piles as the foundation. In this manner, the wall panels behave as spandrel panels.
