This is another award winning building that evokes the question - Can you do that with tilt-up? ALM Inc. of Floyd Knobs, Indiana was the general and tilt-up contractor for this job attractive office and industrial building. The facility is comprised of 100,000 square feet of manufacturing area and a 30,000 square foot office/showroom.
The 2-story office/showroom is constructed of tilt-up columns, 'beam' panels, cantilevered panels and typical full height panels. Reveals and a form liner pattern were carried throughout the office/showroom as well as the manufacturing facility panels.
Casting space was tight for both phases of the project. All of the office/showroom panels were cast on the 15,000 square foot slab on grade with the exception of the tilt-up columns. Panels for the manufacturing area were stack cast four high in some areas.
The many angles, shapes, corners, offsets, and forms in this structure challenged the designers and builders. Without the benefit of computer aided drafting the challenge would have been much greater. Erection was compared to putting together a jigsaw puzzle. The project was a challenge, but through close attention to detail and experience gained over many years of constructing tilt-up, AML, Inc. was able to complete the project smoothly.
