Rick Galloway

Executive Vice President
Martin Concrete Construction, Inc.

A passion for tilt-up concrete construction is woven throughout my education and career.

I graduated in 1996 from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Building Construction degree from The McWhorter School of Building Science. While at Auburn I was asked to write a paper on an innovative construction technique and chose tilt-up concrete construction as my topic (I got an A).

A general contractor based out of Little Rock, Arkansas, Vratsinas Construction Company (VCC), hired me for my first job after college. I worked for VCC from 1996 to 1998and experienced my first working exposure to tilt-up construction almost immediately. My position put me on-site, managing the construction of a complex tilt-up retail development in Jackson, Mississippi.

Obtaining this early experience in tilt-up construction enabled me to join Martin Concrete Construction Inc. in 1998. Martin Concrete was founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 1991 and is widely recognized as a leader and innovator in tilt-up concrete construction. I have worked at Martin Concrete in many different capacities over 20+ years, including assisting in opening our Nashville, Tennessee office in 2014.

Currently I serve as Vice President of Martin Concrete, based out of our Atlanta office, and have 22+ years of tilt-up specific concrete experience. Tilt-up facilities that I have estimated, detailed, and managed include manufacturing, distribution, class A office, institutional, logistics, food and beverage, retail, medical, aviation, and movie studio projects.

I take every opportunity to champion tilt-up construction as an economical, structurally efficient, aesthetically pleasing, and cutting-edge construction system. I have presented an American Institute of Architects certified continuing education series on the basics of tilt-up construction to a dozen or more groups of architects, engineers, contractors, and developers in Atlanta and Nashville. I was the guest speaker, through the TCA, on the advantages of tilt up construction for the Alabama Concrete Industries Association in Mobile, Birmingham, and Huntsville in September of 2017. I have been a guest lecturer on tilt-up construction to the structural and civil engineering programs at Auburn University.

I currently serve on the Georgia Chapter American Concrete Institute Board of Directors and as an industry advisor to the Auburn University Building Science and Construction program.

I have been married 22 years and am the father of five children, ages 17 to 6. I enjoy running, hiking, biking, reading, and music.
