Due to the overall size of this $76 million project, 1.5 million square feet, and the fast-track 12-month schedule (April 1999-April 2000), Tilt-Up was selected over the precast building method because of its ability to meet such tight schedules. The tallest panel measures almost 61 feet high, while the heaviest panel weighs more than 116,900 lbs.
The two-story office sits comfortably in front of the taller warehouse structure and gives the facility a corporate presence and scale. Angled panels create dynamic glass corners, reflective of Old Navy's philosophy and growth, while the front elevation steps to yield shadow and animation for the approaching visitor or employee.
Thickened Tilt-Up panels accommodate the spandrel glass for the horizontal glazing bands. Tilt-Up also was utilized for interior shear walls at the two-story office. The inter-locking of panels at MFL wall intersections allow for movement during a seismic event.
Meadow Burke Accessories and Conspec's Tilt EEZ bondbreaker were used for this high-profile project.
