Oncor

Summarize the project's program, features and achievements?

Oncor’s 422,000 square foot, LEED Certified distribution center in Midlothian, Texas, was developed by KDC to support the growing infrastructure needs of North Texas. Designed by Alliance Architects and constructed by Peinado Construction, the facility sits on a 60.7-acre site and features a cross-dock layout, 36-foot clear heights, interior office space, break areas, and dedicated training rooms.

What obstacles were overcome related to the schedule, budget, program, specification, site, etc. on this project?

This new distribution center, which included approximately 403,000 sf warehouse and 18,500 sf of office, and over 1,046,553 sf of exterior paving for outdoor storage was completed in less than a year from start of construction including road improvements to VV Jones and the intersection of Forbes Rd.

Please communicate any engineering complexities or unique features of the panel design for this project?

Several panels had to be designed for large 20’ x 20’ openings to accommodate distribution of pipe and reel equipment with the largest opening size at 25’ x 25’ used for a straddle carrier crane to transport the oversized reels and equipment to and from flatbed trucks.
