Summarize the project's program, features, and achievements: This Build-to-Suit distribution center for Frito-Lay was the first building to be constructed at Peoria Logistics Park. The building’s design consists of a multi-color paint scheme, as well as tilt panels that feature two different types of reveal.
What obstacles were overcome related to the schedule, budget, program, specification, site, etc. on this project? The project was delayed in the beginning due to the utility line and plumbing. Additionally, rain occurred throughout the project duration. Regardless of these delays, the Riggs team was able to complete the project on time and without any overtime.
Please communicate any engineering complexities or unique features of the panel design for this project. ? At the entrance of the building, two spandrels are set in the adjacent dog ear panels. It is crucial to lift these spandrels with extreme caution in order to slowly and precisely position the panels. Before the crane could release each panel, our team had to ensure the metal plates between the dog ears and the spandrel were welded together.
What is the potential for this project's impact on the community and/or environment? The Rovey Family worked closely with the city of Peoria in order to find the right project to build on the family’s farmland. Ultimately, they landed on Peoria Logistics Park, where Frito Lay would be located. The facility was expected to bring between 100-150 jobs to the community in Peoria and is the first of eight buildings being built in Peoria Logistics Park. The office entrance on the Northeast corner elevates the intersection of 75th Ave and Golden Lane.
