The Ogden Medical Office Building is a 74,000-sf tilt-up concrete structure constructed adjacent to the existing Ogden Regional Medical Center. Big-D’s scope of work included construction of the four-story core and shell building and tenant improvements for multiple suites on the 2nd and 4th floors - Cardiac Services, CV Spine, and NUCA. The new building featured a pedestrian bridge that adjoins the new office building with the existing adjacent hospital.
Project challenges included accommodating and managing numerous design changes and construction on a busy, active hospital campus. Tight site constraints required Big-D Construction to develop a careful, well-planned logistics strategy to minimize disruption to the existing hospital and its staff, patients, and visitors. Working with just 200 feet of crane boom, crews had to skillfully coordinate construction and take extra precautions to avoid disruption to the path of emergency helicopters landing on the nearby helipad. To minimize disturbance to the fully operational Cancer Care Center located to the north, Big-D worked after hours to set the south wall panels on the new structure.
The Ogden Medical Office Building was a significant accomplishment for our concrete crew as this project set the all-time company record for tallest tilt-up panels in Big-D history and it was accomplished with no interruption to adjacent hospital operations.
The project was a triumph for Big-D, the Owner, and the community. The Ogden Medical Office Building is a boon for local residents, offering fully modern medical resources, amenities, and services to accommodate the needs of Ogden and surrounding areas.
