Oficinas Finsa Santa Catarina

The Finsa Santa Catarina Offices represents the integration of design, engineering, environmental commitment and innovation in the Finsa way of doing business. Showing the best of several years of experience and new innovated techniques; achieving a sound, well planned project, where more than 20 people participated at the design process giving life to this iconic office space. The project was intended to be a show room where all the different elements of the industrial construction must be present, as exposed concrete, colored precast walls, visible electrical and HVAC installations, and as part of our commitment with the environment, the EDGE certification. As the main innovation aspect in this project, the use of angled panels in two directions was implemented, beyond that, we use two different concrete colors, black and light gray, in single angled panels. This required a lot of perfection in the pouring process, to avoid color contamination we poured the panel in two parts, so special analysis on the joint and erection process was performed. Additionally, since the panels are part of the final architecture, no coverings in the outside nor inside were implemented, all the electrical, sewer and water installations must be embedded on the panels. This required also a lot of planning and design to avoid any mistakes. The polished finished and overall construction process of the panels had to be clean and well planned, the wood simulated finished were implemented in two panels, since it was done with natural wood formwork, different samples of different wood materials was used prior the final pour of these panels, to get the final expected appearance. A big challenge was the look of floating panels in the main facade entrance, this required to plan the hole building as a bearing concrete structure, and the panels to be supported laterally, requiring the implementation of different thickness’ in the same panel, that varied from 5 inches up to 24 inches in the same panel. The overall panels assembly and erection planning was also very important to avoid interferences since some panels are in several planes and interact with other panels to give the single facade effect. The use of concrete as primary construction material, combined with wood and Glass, the correct implementation of precast panels, concrete technologies, high construction standards and innovation of new construction procedures, gives the outstanding final look to the Finsa Santa Catarina Offices. The Finsa Santa Catarina Offices represents the integration of design, engineering, environmental commitment and innovation in the Finsa way of doing business.
