Flexibility in design, substantial and attractive appearance, speed of construction, and energy efficiency and economy of maintenance were the key factors that changed the building from a simple masonry/metal siding warehouse, to this beautiful, classical architectural tilt-up concrete structure.
Columns and horizontal beams were integrated into the tilt-up panels. Loading docks were designed in a saw-tooth configuration to save space outside, and provide needed wind bracing.
The design/build team of The Bristol Group, Inc., Lexington, general contractor; Wiseman Architecture, Lexington; and Freeland Harris Consulting Engineer, Atlanta, completed the project on schedule despite record spring rainfall. T & M Tilt-Up, Winder, Ga., was the tilt-up contractor.
