OCLI (Optical Coating Laboratory Inc.), the world's largest manufacturer of optical thin film coated components used to manage light, needed to expand their facilities as quickly as possible to keep up with the high demand for their products in the telecommunications industry.
The solution, a winner in the Manufacturing/Industrial category, is a 167,000-square-foot facility in Santa Rosa, Calif. RMW architecture & interiors and Panattoni Construction, Inc. completed the building in seven months. The integration of Class 1000 clean rooms required unique design considerations and stringent vibration criteria for the first and second floor slabs.
Tilt-Up allowed the design team to incorporate design elements that complement the neutral palette of the existing campus through graphic bands of paint, as well as silver and black glass to provide scale to the high bays. Additionally, the exterior stair tower walls mimic the curvature of a lens, breaking up the long elevations. For more information on this project, contact Stephen Guest, Principal at (916) 449-1400.
