Taper-Lock Form Saver Engineered to Provide Fastest Connections in the Industry
DAYTON, Ohio, June 21, 2011 – The introduction of Dayton Superior’s Taper-Lock ® Form Saver exemplifies the manufacturer’s commitment to developing advanced technologies to provide unparalleled rebar splicing products and systems in the concrete construction market. The Taper-Lock Form Saver, a taper-threaded, mechanical splicing system brings together the best of the unique, but well-respected and widely-accepted Dowel Bar, Dowel-In Splicing System and Taper-Lock technologies while providing contractors a 23% faster installation and savings of $100 per form in rental repair fees.
The female units of the Taper-Lock Form Saver are forged from ASTM A615 or ASTM A706 deformed rebar material and are available in sizes #4 through #11. The system performs in tension and compression in excess of a Type 2 (160% specified yield) splice. The system’s integral nailing flange is available in small or clipped sizes for attachment to formwork.
“The Taper-Lock Form Saver was developed as a result of the engineers at Dayton Superior scrutinizing our current technologies and asking ‘How can we make this better?’” explains Josh Ison, Product Manager of Splicing products. “We knew that by requiring no special tools, Dowel Bar, Dowel-In was simple to use, but it only threads at the beginning. The Taper-Lock taper thread technology was the preferred product for easy installation by field personnel due to the fact that it requires less turns, but was only available to fabricators. By engineering Taper-Lock Form Saver using existing in-house capabilities, we are able to offer the fast assembly of Taper-Lock and the functionality of Dowel Bar, Dowel-In in one product and make it available to all customers.”
Installation of the Taper-Lock Form Saver consists of nailing the female end to the formwork through any of the four pre-drilled holes in the integral nailing flange. Once the form has been removed, a D370 Taper-Lock male end bar can be threaded in by hand until hand tight, without the use of a torque wrench or epoxy touch-up.
The Taper-Lock Form Saver can be used anywhere structural reinforcement of concrete is required.
