During its annual national meetings in Mount Airy, North Carolina, Insteel hosted a private Tilt-Up Concrete Association certification program for approximately 20 team members from across the country. The event included TCA’s four-hour certification preparation course followed by administration of the certification exam.

While TCA certification programs are most commonly attended by contractors, Insteel’s participation reflects a broader trend toward technical education across the full tilt-up project delivery chain. As a manufacturer of welded wire reinforcement products widely used in tilt-up construction, the company viewed the program as an opportunity to strengthen internal understanding of contractor workflows, field practices, and project coordination.
“Each spring, we bring our entire team together for a week focused on training, development, and team building,” said Stephen Flora, National Sales Manager for Insteel and a member of the TCA Tilt-Up Industry Leaders of Tomorrow (TILT) Board. “We use that time to invest in both our people and the way we serve our customers.”

Stephen Flora overlooks production operations during a tour of Insteel’s Mount Airy, North Carolina manufacturing facility, where the company hosted a private TCA certification program as part of its annual national meetings.
According to Flora, this year’s meetings intentionally emphasized technical and industry-focused education, making TCA certification a natural addition to the program.
“Our primary customers are tilt-up concrete contractors, so the better we understand their processes, challenges, and jobsite realities, the better we can support them,” he said.
Insteel regularly collaborates with contractors and engineers to convert traditional reinforcing designs into welded wire reinforcement mat systems and participates in design-assist efforts on projects across the country. Because of that involvement, the company sees value in extending technical education beyond sales roles to include estimating, detailing, project management, and broader operational teams.
“We also believe that strong customer support requires alignment across the entire organization,” Flora said. “Sales, estimating, project management, and detailing all play a role in project success, so investing in the technical knowledge for the entire team strengthens the value we provide.”
The certification event was held as part of a larger week of meetings and training activities hosted by Insteel at its Mount Airy operations, where attendees also toured manufacturing facilities and participated in broader team development programming.
