Special Aerospace Services (SAS) is an aerospace and defense company specializing in engineering, hardware, products, and mission-critical communication systems to meet customer needs during the life cycle of a program or project. This project included a total 33,155 Sf of SOG, (56) panels, (6) of which were spandrel panels to be erected atop structural steel beams which spanned East, West and South elevations.
Lot size, with only (3) acres coordination with GC and other trades was a necessity to ensure schedule control. During the initial tilt (50/56) panels were to be erected prior to the start of the structural steel installation. Six spandrel panels were to be erected post steel install to allow for the roof line to be connected. This equated to a demobilization of our forces while maintain proper coordination with other trades and GC for a 2nd panel erection within the allotted schedule.
When incorporating spandrel panels followed the slope of the roof, our (6) spandrel had to be formed in conjunction with the structural steel elevations to allow for proper fall to adjacent scuppers.
