Young Automotive Corporate Headquarters

Summarize the project's program, features and achievements?

Young Automotive Headquarters is a 3 story, Class A office space located in Layton Utah. The Young Group had a vision and worked with design teams to bring corporate management, their parts warehouse for all their auto brand dealerships, and their successful philanthropic center into one cohesive building that appropriately expresses the company brand. The new building provides a beautiful, inviting workspace to attract top talent in their industries. In addition to a 180-seat training theater, the building houses a 100,000-square-foot parts warehouse boasting state of the art technology for housing, inventory and retrieval systems.

Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of craftsmanship can be seen in every aspect of the building – especially the tilt-up structure, which is of such a level of quality that it is also featured in interior spaces. Creating a visually stunning architectural detail that gives the building a high value feel, inside and out. The added complexity of the leaning exterior panels (8 degrees) lends a visually stunning detail to the building that makes it a landmark and beautiful addition to the area. The interior features MagicSlab floors giving yet another feature that is awe-inspiring. The quality and beauty of the tilt up panels makes it hard to believe his building was built during the concrete shortage. Shortages that typically make it difficult to maintain quality on the exposed concrete.

What obstacles were overcome related to the schedule, budget, program, specification, site, etc. on this project?

During construction crews faced labor and cement shortages in addition to a record-breaking winter.

Please communicate any engineering complexities or unique features of the panel design for this project?

Having an in-house crew and crane made possible the setting of the angled panels.

What is the potential for this project's impact on the community and/or environment?

The Young charitable organization is housed in this facility. Young Caring For Our Young charity supports and benefits thousands of school age children throughout Utah. The Young headquarters has space for fundraising and work events to support this amazing charity.
