The Florida International Tradeport Building 12 is part of a multi-building industrial complex. Seretta Construction, Inc. has completed nine (9) buildings and has three (3) more under contract. The building features various surface elevations on its external wall panel face. Due to the complexity of these features, the owner wanted to decrease the use of plywood to create the recesses to avoid getting warped results. Our team created casting beds with numerous elevations to achieve these recessed features, eliminating most plywood recesses. In addition to the multiple recesses, many reveals were added to highlight the architectural details of the building.
As with many projects, our team experienced weather delays that made it challenging to stay on schedule during the rainy season. The type of soil used for the foundation caused the project schedule to be pushed back because of the slow dry-out timing. In addition to weather challenges, we had minimal site access because of neighboring ponds, existing parking lots, and high-voltage power lines near the site. To overcome these obstacles, a crane run was established through the building to erect the panels internally using a crawler crane. A helical anchoring system was also used where necessary for bracing panels.
Each ornate entry panel's thickness ranges from 7.25 inches, 9.25 inches, 10 inches, 11.25 inches, and 12 inches. Placing rebar in panels with several elevations is quite a challenge because of the different layers needed for proper reinforcement.
This project is part of a multi-building industrial complex. All nine (9) buildings completed by Seretta Construction have tenants. This project has positively affected the community by creating jobs and distribution centers for local businesses. The need for these spaces has increased with the increase in E-commerce activities and faster delivery over the last few years.
