With more than 1,000 properties in 39 states and over 1 million customers, CubeSmart Self Storage offers a variety of storage solutions including household, business, and vehicle storage. They offer 24-hour video monitoring and bright interior and exterior lighting as key features. In November 2017, HGC started construction on CubeSmart’s fourth location in Cincinnati. The new 3-story facility is 94,000 SF and offers 642 storage units in a climate-controlled setting. The building was constructed on a tight lot with the building footprint covering 40%. This required stacking and erecting the panels in two different operations. Concrete work began in late fall and finished in early spring after an extremely cold winter. Municipality insisted on the building having brick and block face with windows on all sides. This resulted in using thin brick, masonry form lines, and false windows. This project used tilt-up construction in a unique manner. Instead of merely pouring concrete, standing up the slabs, and painting them, instead this brick façade was cast-in with tilt panels. The bricks were laid face down, and then the concrete was poured on top. This project also used a wide variety of form liners to achieve an eye-catching texture on the building’s façade. Municipality was extremely pleased with the final appearance and HGC’s dedication to excellence. Construction was finished in September 2018 after 10 months of work, and was brought in on time and within budget.
