Fiskars

This project was designed to use tilt-up in innovative ways. For example, this building incorporates glass planes under the projecting roof plane. Steel tubes were casted integrally with the tilt-up walls and then projected upward to carry the roof load while maintaining capacity for resisting lateral loads.

The tilt-up panels are articulated by rustication joints and a continuous glass top. We explored alternative finishes, which are applied over load-bearing tilt-up walls at visually important points.
