Located on an expressway interchange that serves the entrance of the City of Miramar, FL, the 204,000-square foot Miramar Centre office complex was designed around the concept of a traditional City plaza. The project's focal point is the piazza, where pedestrian and vehicular traffic co-exist harmoniously.
Engraved in the concrete monoliths, the meticulously crafted details borrow from the past, yet suggest the versatility of Tilt-Up technology.
Beyond accomplishing great architectural appeal, the contractor employed the PSI System, a specialized concrete roof-beam assembly. Because the PSI system uses concrete instead of structural steel, the interior footings were much larger than normal - the largest poured with more than 200 cubic yards of concrete. Every 12 days following the tilt process, an additional floor was poured. To add structural stability, two 50-foot-plus high shear walls were poured in stages with the floors.
