Summarize the project's program, features and achievements?

This project was very different from the standard tilt wall projects we see in the Houston area. The GC and management group was out of Chicago and more familiar with precast panels, the engineer of record was out of California, and the owner from Malaysia. Working through a design build building with a group that has different levels of experience and knowledge of tilt was difficult but as a team we were able to get all parties on the same page and deliver a product that exceeded the expectations of the owner.

What obstacles were overcome related to the schedule, budget, program, specification, site, etc. on this project?

This was a very unique project. There were multiple wastewater treatment pits that were 11' deep and the entire perimeter was a 6' tall grade beam. The site was received at the bottom of the grade beam due to the auger cast piles being underneath them. The grade beams were full formed using Symons forms and then back filled by another contractor. The production area of this building has 1370 ACPs that are 22' below finished floor. On top of each of these ACPs is a 2' x 24" diameter pile cap that comes to finish floor. Encore worked with our drilling partner to create a tool that allowed us to shave the remaining 6" off of the shaft of the ACPs so we could pour these pile caps and our field team had to be diligent that the elevations were exact as equipment being fabricated and shipped from Malaysia would rest on them. To make this project even more unique there is also nearly 2 miles of prefabricated and cast in place trench scattered throughout the ACP caps.

Please communicate any engineering complexities or unique features of the panel design for this project?

. All of these panels were top picked and plumb set. The steel for the building was erected 100% before these panels were erected and this was the only option for erection. The top connection of the panel utilized Halfen HTA Anchors so the installation of the embeds in the panel had to be monitored very closely as there was minimal adjustment possible with this particular type of anchor.

What is the potential for this project's impact on the community and/or environment?

This project will produce many jobs in the Brazos County and Rosharon, TX area. This facility will manufacture latex gloves, a piece of PPE that is often manufactured overseas and imported. By producing these gloves in Texas, there will be less lost time in transport and import and if needed the gloves will be more readily available.
