This modern distribution facility for a major international beverage brand featured some challenging tilt-up work. The main entrance to the facility was an elaborate store front system that was set on a different angle than the main structure. The panels for this portion of the building were set askew and then connected to the structure. There was also a bridge connection to an existing building.
The tilt-up process included eight panel pour phases, which required eight casting slabs on site to complete all of the panels. Midway through the panel pour process, the lifting phase began. The team lifted 170 panels, using an MLC 300 VPC-MAX crane. The number of panels and the size and weight of the panels were significant, with the largest panel coming in at 321,100 pounds.
This project was awarded an ENR Southwest Best Manufacturing Project for 2022. The facility is a major employment and commercial hub for a major national beverage company, serving as a regional office and distribution hub. The new building is part of a group of warehouses that work in conjunction, a concept that the building's design team expects will influence the way commercial spaces are built. Adjacent plants in this three-building chain system development include can and manufacturing facilities. Product is then transported via the 418-foot elevated and enclosed bridge to the new distribution building.
