Red Barn

Project summary provided by submitting company.

The Red Barn is a group living facility for men dealing with substance abuse. It is also a working farm that provides work opportunities for those staying at the facility. The architectural and engineering services were donated for this project. The new sleeping quarters was situated between two existing barn structures, one of which serves as office, classroom and cafeteria space. The new sleeping structure needed to have a fire separation between it, and the main building. The facility is located adjacent to the freeway, so in addition to providing all of the required fire separations for living space, the tilt-up concrete also provided the needed sound control. The new building was designed to look like a barn so as to fit into the existing building complex.
