Derick’s exposure to the concrete industry began at an early age, going to work with his father and sweeping the warehouse or cleaning forms. He began his career full-time in 1995 as a delivery driver and warehouse worker for a concrete supply distributor in Louisville KY, where his fascination with concrete, and tilt-up specifically, first took hold. In 2003, he started working as an outside salesperson for a distributor covering Kentucky and Southern Indiana with a focus on tilt-up contractors. Derick started at Nox-Crete in 2014 as the Southeast Regional Manager and became Tilt-up Division Manager in 2019. His technical bulletin “Reactive Bondbreakers Use Chemistry to Extend Lifting Timelines” was published by the TCA in 2020.

Founded in 1986, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) strives to improve the quality and acceptance of site-cast Tilt-Up construction - one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment. Over 10,000 buildings, enclosing more than 650 million square feet, are constructed each year using this construction method.
