For years, the TCA’s cyber roundtable (also known as the technical hotline) has been an essential tool for professionals seeking advice and troubleshooting tips for project issues. Conversations surrounding contract language, engineering details, product reviews, human resource questions, construction techniques, materials research, and more have resulted in a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Until now, that valuable material has been difficult to organize and nearly impossible to access after the fact. Katt Price, PE with Schaefer, a structural engineering firm with offices in Ohio and Arizona, has championed the effort to renovate this service from the moment she took on a leadership role with TCA’s new collaborative for young professionals, Tilt-Up Industry Leaders of Tomorrow (TILT). “The TCA hotline is such a valuable resource for the tilt community,” said Price. “Since I’ve joined the hotline, I have seen a handful of the email strings shared among today’s industry leaders, and it made me wonder, How many more great conversations happened before I joined? How many of my questions have already been answered by this seasoned group?”

Over the past several months, TILT, in coordination with TCA’s manager for regulatory and technical affairs (Jim Baty, FACI, FTCA), has been documenting previous conversations, assigning keywords, and categorizing them for publication. The service is now live on a new platform where past and future discussions are easier to search, interact with, and reference. “We are so excited to launch this new tool,” said Price. “There are some amazing conversations hidden in these emails that can benefit all of the tilt-up community.”

“This is a great step forward for this valuable member resource,” said Baty. “While the access to experienced colleagues is valuable in the moment, the history or legacy of the conversations has not been something members could use for research. Now, not only will they be able to research this archive of great information, but also come to know how often their questions are shared by others—one of the many great reasons an association exists.”
