The LJB Crew Reigns Victorious In First Ever Tilt-Up Trivia Bowl

Español | Translation Sponsored by TCA

Tilt-up professionals from across the United States and Canada gathered in The Aggregate—where TCA holds its virtual events—on the afternoon of January 21, 2021, to compete in what we hope will be the first of many Tilt-Up Trivia Bowls. The event was hosted by the man with a million questions, Andrew Juhl, founder of the one and only Andrew’s Bar Exam. Part comedian, part writer, and part market researcher, Juhl has run the now famous trivia conglomerate since 2014, testing the knowledge of university students, bar-goers, community organizations, corporate audiences, and more.

Members were invited to register as free agents or to build teams of up to eight people who  answered eight rounds of eight questions. Rounds with titles such as, Four-Letter Words, Cough-y Break, AGH! Too many Crumpets, and Eight Questions That Are Not About Valentine’s Day were combined with categories featuring questions that were specific to tilt-up construction. One round featured questions focused around the words “tilt,” “up,” and “concrete.”

In the end, The LJB Crew squeaked out a two-point win over Superior Tilt. The top five finishers are listed below.

  1. The LJB Crew
  2. Superior Tilt
  3. Martin Pre-Con Brain Trust
  4. Crazy Canucks
  5. Texas Tilt Wall Wizards

“I think I can speak for everyone at LJB who played to say that we all had a good time,” said Jim Lintz, PE, SE, LEED AP with LJB, Inc. “The virtual setup really worked well for us since LJB’s trivia team had people from our offices in Dayton, Charlotte, and Houston all playing. It’s always fun to see what random, normally useless facts your colleagues have rolling around their heads.”

“Everyone here at Dayton Superior had a fantastic time,” said Shawn McNamara, PE, and director of business operations for Tilt‑Up for Dayton Superior. “It’s great to see that the TCA is creating innovative ways to network within the industry during these difficult times.”

“The TCA never ceases to amaze me with ways they creatively try to keep us in touch as an industry,” said Len Overbeek of Tilt Wall Ontario, Inc. “We had a great time in our office participating in the event and it was great to connect with some others in the industry to see how they are coping in these unprecedented times. Looking forward to the next event!”

Proceeds from the event are being be donated to Concrete Cares, an organization founded to help families and children facing the daily challenges of cancer in their lives. Learn more and donate at www.concretecares.com. Learn more about The Aggregate at www.theaggregate.world.
