The Tilt-Up Concrete Association has appointed Lilia Ortiz de Montellano Valdez, Regional Manager with Ware Malcomb in Monterrey, to its Mexican Advisory Board. Her appointment was approved during the board’s August 13 meeting at the MillerKnoll showroom in San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León.
Ortiz de Montellano brings more than 25 years of industry experience to the board, along with a perspective that connects architecture and design with business strategy, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the evolving needs of the built environment. Her appointment further strengthens the diversity of expertise represented on the advisory board as TCA continues to expand its engagement with the design and construction community in Mexico.
“I’m delighted to join TCA’s Mexican Advisory Board and contribute my experience, along with the mission we share at Ware Malcomb, to the transformation of cities through design and construction,” said Ortiz de Montellano. “I’m grateful for the trust and the invitation to contribute to this initiative.”
Ortiz de Montellano has worked in the industry since 2000 and brings architecture and interior design expertise to Ware Malcomb. As Regional Manager, she is responsible for the growth and operations of the firm’s Monterrey office, overseeing staff and managing select projects. Her experience includes involvement in large-scale residential, mixed-use, and industrial development projects in Mexico, as well as collaboration with global design firms. Her background is characterized by strong capabilities in strategic planning, analytical thinking, business development, and team leadership, along with building strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
“Lilia’s experience in architecture, leadership, and business development makes her an important addition to the Mexican Advisory Board,” said Jorge Figueroa Silva, president of the TCA Mexican Advisory Board. “As the tilt-up market continues to develop in Mexico, architectural engagement will be essential to expanding how the system is understood and applied.”
The TCA Mexican Advisory Board brings together professionals from architecture, engineering, construction, development, manufacturing, and related disciplines to help guide the association’s work in the country. Through education, technical advancement, market development, and industry engagement, the board is helping strengthen the professional community surrounding tilt-up construction in Mexico.
Ortiz de Montellano’s appointment adds an important design voice to that conversation. Her experience working across disciplines and building systems will help the board better understand the priorities of architects and design teams while contributing to a broader dialogue about the projects where tilt-up can appropriately respond to the needs of the Mexican market.
