The Second Annual Tilt-Up Nexus: Advancing Canadian Construction took place on December 3, 2024, in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). This pivotal gathering brought together industry professionals, showcasing the versatility and innovation of tilt-up construction while fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The event emphasized tilt-up’s potential to revolutionize construction methodologies in Canada. With a focus on advancing best practices, exploring emerging trends, and sparking innovation, the conference attracted a diverse audience eager to elevate tilt-up construction across various applications.

The education program featured members of the Canadian Advisory Board who shared compelling case studies of tilt-up projects spanning various typologies and locations across Canada. The day began with Mitch Bloomquist’s presentation, “Exploring Tilt-Up,” which delved into the method’s historical evolution and architectural significance. Len Overbeek spoke next and discussed a case study on the Belleville Christian School, highlighting innovative cold-weather construction strategies. “The M.A. Stewart Project Journey” brought together Dylan James, P.Eng., Jeff Knoblauch, and Justin Reitz to share insights into overcoming complex site challenges with tilt-up. Mark Stevens presented “Thinking Inside the Tank,” spotlighting innovative uses of tilt-up for aquaculture infrastructure in Nova Scotia. The program concluded with “Going Vertical,” where Bruce Walck and Philip Whitten explored tilt-up’s growing role in mid-rise building applications through detailed case studies.

In addition to the robust educational offerings, the Nexus provided ample opportunities for networking. Attendees connected with peers during lunch and wrapped up the day at the postevent reception, celebrating the spirit of collaboration and sharing ideas to propel the industry forward.
