Dear TCA Members and Friends,
On behalf of the Tilt-up Concrete Association’s officers and board of directors, I am happy to report that the Tilt-Up Convention and Expo 2024 in Phoenix was a resounding success. Everyone who attended enjoyed the many opportunities to connect with industry leaders, the hands-on demonstrations, and an agenda packed with expert-led educational sessions, all taking place at the District at Sportsman’s Park in the shadow of the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals stadium. The TCA Convention and Expo has long been recognized as the premier event for tilt-up professionals, and this year was no exception. I want to extend my deepest thanks to our sponsors, speakers, exhibitors, and volunteers whose diligent efforts and commitment made the event possible. Their dedication to the TCA and the tilt-up industry was truly inspiring. Like many others, I left thrilled about everything I experienced and even more excited about next year’s Convention and Expo event in Nashville, Tennessee.
As great as the gathering in Arizona was, we haven’t closed the calendar for 2024 yet. This December, Toronto will host the second annual Tilt-Up Nexus in, what forecasts suggest, will be much different weather than what we experienced at the Phoenix Expo. Tilt-Up Nexus embodies a renewed commitment to elevate and promote tilt-up methodologies in the region. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the vast potential of tilt-up, gaining insights into the innovative techniques, best practices, and latest trends shaping the industry in this unique and challenging environment. I was fortunate enough to attend this event last year and I was blown away by the beauty of the city and amazed by the Canadian community’s passion for tilt-up construction. The support the TCA provides our international partners and the deep bond we share across our northern border will continue to be strengthened through this annual event. You can find more details in the event section of the TCA website. No matter where you call home, please make every effort to attend this event—you will not regret it.
Recently the TCA announced the upcoming retirement of Jim Baty. I will always be grateful to Jim for encouraging me to submit an application for Martin Concrete Construction to join the TCA Company Certification program. By working through each phase of the certification process, we learned so much about ourselves, how to improve, and how we fit into this great industry. If you haven’t taken the step to certify your company, I would urge you, just like Jim encouraged me, to begin the process now. After a career of extraordinary contributions to the tilt-up concrete industry, Jim is set to begin the next chapter of his life, leaving behind a legacy of advancement, guidance, and training that will long be felt within the community. Please join me in honoring his incredible career with other TCA friends, colleagues, and industry professionals at the Tilt-Up Jubilee during the 2025 World of Concrete at Topgolf Las Vegas.
As we look forward to upcoming events to be held in locations spanning North America from Toronto to Las Vegas and Nashville, I am filled with excitement about what we will achieve together. The TCA community is built on our shared passion for tilt-up construction and the personal connections we make through working and learning together. I look forward to seeing you all at these upcoming events as we bring 2024 to a close and lean into a 2025 schedule full of opportunities that continue to reinforce our community.
