Español | Español | Translation Sponsored by TCA
Following the success of Tilt-Up Future Think 3.0 in Chicago, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) is excited to return to the Windy City for Tilt-Up Future Think 4.0 on June 24! Moving away from distant speculations, this edition hones in on a rapidly approaching future, delving into the evolving technologies, materials, regulations, and best practices pivotal to the everyday business of tilt-up construction. Attendees can anticipate dynamic sessions and expert panel discussions, offering a window into the near-term evolution of our industry.
Program Highlights
Before delving into the detailed sessions, the event will kick off with two preparatory talks to ignite the audience’s enthusiasm and set the tone for the day’s exploration. Jeffrey Brown, founding principal of Powers Brown Architecture and chair of Tilt Lab, will lead a contemplative exploration into the essence of futurity. Following this, Steve Wasilowski, cofounder of PaintJet and a dynamic leader in construction robotics, will share insights on the importance of affordable R&D in shaping the future of construction innovation. With these thought-provoking talks as our foundation, let’s now explore the dynamic sessions lined up for the day.
- Session 1 – Materials & Methodologies: Explore revolutionary materials and construction methodologies that are setting new standards in the industry. This session will introduce participants to the latest developments such as high-density gypsum, the resilience of GFRP rebar, and novel approaches like slabless construction. Attendees will discover how these advances are making construction practices more efficient and robust, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in modern building.
- Session 2 – Digital Integration: Digital Integration unveils the transformative potential of technology in the construction sphere. From leveraging augmented reality for enhanced precision in construction processes to employing neural networks for smarter material development and exploring the future role of robotics in building, this session provides a deep dive into how digital tools are revolutionizing construction methodologies.
- Session 3 – Eco & Ethos Adaptations: This session tackles the dual challenges of environmental sustainability and workforce management within the construction industry. Discussions will range from innovative low-carbon concrete solutions and the implications of evolving VOC regulations to strategic responses to labor shortages. Learn how integrating environmental considerations with positive workplace initiatives is essential for the industry’s sustainable future.
Networking Opportunities
Connect over lunch in The Commons, MCA’s space adorned with artworks by Ana Paula Ruiz Galindo and Mecky Reuss. Later, join us for a reception on the patio overlooking the sculpture garden at the Contemporary Art Museum in Chicago. Both events offer opportunities to network and discuss the future of tilt-up construction over refreshments.
