In December, Toronto proudly hosted Tilt-Up Nexus: Advancing Canadian Construction, a significant event for the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) in Canada and the first major TCA assembly in the country since 2017.
Guided by the Canadian Advisory Board, Tilt-Up Nexus created a platform for initiating collaborations, forming partnerships, and incubating innovations that pave the way forward for the tilt-up construction industry in Canada.
The TCA recognizes, with many thanks, the generous sponsors who supported the event:
- Pioneering Partners: Powers Brown Architecture, Tilt Wall Ontario Inc.
- Collaborative Catalysts: Canadian Concrete Expo, Dayton Superior Corporation, Nox-Crete Inc., Ready Mixed Concrete Association of Ontario, SpecChem, Total Integrated Panel Systems
- Industry Innovators: Dass Rebar, Govan Brown & Associates Limited, Lafarge Canada Inc., Ontario Concrete Accessories, Tilt Lab

The event was enriched by the insights of attendees. Jeff Knoblauch from the TCA’s Canadian Advisory Board remarked on the excellent networking and learning opportunities, noting the significant interest from the local Ontario market in tilt-up construction. Len Overbeek described the event as “energizing,” highlighting the growing enthusiasm and appetite for tilt-up in Canada. Justin Reitz echoed this sentiment, expressing excitement for the expanding tilt-up market and the new opportunities it brings across Canada.
The day featured sessions from industry experts on a variety of topics, including affordable housing, low carbon concrete solutions, and an exploration of tilt-up construction myths. The event concluded with a lively networking reception at the Universal Event Space in Vaughan, Ontario.

The TCA is pleased to announce that the second iteration of Tilt-Up Nexus is planned for 2024, with the location in Canada to be determined by the advisory board. Further details will be available on the TCA website as they develop.

Tilt-Up Nexus has firmly established itself as a pivotal gathering for professionals from various disciplines, each contributing to the industry’s vibrant and prosperous future. It stands not only as a significant milestone but also as a catalyst for growth and innovation in Canada’s tilt-up construction industry.
