The Tilt-Up Concrete Association has announced the public availability of the second and third books in its architecture of tilt-up series, The Architecture of Tilt-Up – Spiritual and The Architecture of Tilt-Up – Education.
The Architecture of Tilt-Up, 3rd edition, was compiled by Mitch Bloomquist, executive director of the TCA. This book has been re-imagined as a series of individually bound sections presenting project case studies organized by building type. The first book, released in 2016, focuses on the application of the tilt-up construction method for office projects; the second book focuses on spiritual projects; and the third book focuses on educational projects. With each book, readers will find a quick introduction to tilt-up followed by education related to the specific building type, along with an impressive collection of representative projects. Available now, The Architecture of Tilt-Up – Spiritual presents 17 case studies of tilt-up projects made for spiritually related purposes, built across the country and Canada, and The Architecture of Tilt-Up – Education features 27 case studies of tilt-up projects for K-12 grades and higher education.
“The designs presented have inspired markets across the country to re-evaluate their understanding of tilt-up’s role for each particular building type,” said Mitch Bloomquist. He continued, “Each book not only presents the advanced design capabilities available today, but also the challenges that accompany them, and the opportunity that tilt-up allows to overcome these challenges within each building type.”
