The Plan Journal, an international peer-reviewed architecture journal, has published a research article documenting Opus Luteum, the Tilt Lab initiative developed for the 2024 Tilt-Up Convention & Expo in Phoenix. The article, written by Pablo Moyano Fernández, examines the development of full-scale double-curvature tilt-up panels cast in compacted earth and situates the work within contemporary architectural research.
The publication marks an important milestone for the project and highlights the broader relevance of the investigation. It credits the interdisciplinary coordination among architects, engineers, contractors, and field specialists that guided the research from early mock-up studies through the construction and erection of the pavilion.

This recognition joins two related milestones: the Tilt-Up Pavilion’s selection as a 2025 AIA Arizona Design Award winner in the Component category, and the Viddy Award earned by Shaping Earth Mock-Up, the documentary short capturing the project’s early forming tests. Together, these acknowledgments demonstrate the expanding architectural and research conversation surrounding the work.
