Real Value – Thoughts on Exhibiting at the TCA Convention

It is safe to say that everyone had a good time at the outdoor demonstrations during last year’s TCA Annual Convention in Kansas City, Missouri. The weather was beautiful, the food was good, and everyone there got some hands-on experience with tools and products that had the potential to save them time and money while improving the quality of their work.  Following the event, TCA received many comments and questions about one product in particular that made an impression on the attendees.  Chad Bruce, CEO of Adhesives Plus, Inc., makers of GluDown, a spray adhesive they claim dramatically reduces labor and material costs, shared his thoughts on the impact the convention had on the growth of their business.

TCA: How did you discover the TCA?

Bruce: I actually found the TCA while working on a project for one of my MBA classes.  I had roped my group into helping me with the GluDown project and while we were researching the Tilt-Up industry we found the TCA website.

What was your experience like exhibiting at the 2011 TCA convention in Kansas City?

Bruce: The show in Kansas City was great for us.  Our product is very hands-on, and it was great to be able to do side by side comparisons to prove our product worked. More than anything to date, the Kansas City show has provided us with the greatest boost in sales and potential customers.

Would you say that your participation at the convention was important in introducing your product to the Tilt-Up market?

Bruce: Absolutely, without that experience we would not have learned about all the other applications and markets for our GluDown product. Additionally the convention allowed us to make industry contacts, both domestic and international, that we never would have had otherwise.

How have TCA members received your product? Have you seen an increase in demand?

Bruce: Those who have purchased have become consistent customers.  More importantly because of the show we were able to convert Summit Concrete (Kansas City, MO) to our product and through them we made contact with White Cap in Kansas City who now regularly purchases our product.

How are you utilizing your membership to market and improve your product?

Bruce: Right now we are leveraging our membership to build industry relationships and to network to find new potential customers.  We are always learning, so the more TCA members we interact with the better our products and services become.
