Tilt-Up Concrete Association to Open Judging of Tilt-Up Achievement Awards Program to Facebook Fans
The Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) – a non-profit international organization that serves to expand and improve the use of Tilt-Up as the preferred building system – will open judging of the 2012 Tilt-Up Achievement Awards Program to their Facebook fans.
According to Mitch Bloomquist, project manager at TCA, Facebook fans will have the opportunity to weigh in on the process. “This will be a great opportunity to include our Facebook followers in the process and introduce a new award to the coveted program! This new opportunity is meant to increase awareness of the program and will not replace traditional judging,” said Bloomquist.
To participate, watch TCA’s Facebook page for the submitted projects to be posted and ‘Like’ your favorite ones. Each project will be represented by one image and a brief description. “While this is only a fraction of the information our judges have access to in order to score the projects, we felt that too much information would be burdensome to this more informal and playful process,” added Bloomquist. Up to three projects will be recognized as Tilt-Up Achievement Awards winners through this process and will be designated as fan favorites.
The annual Achievement Awards competition is a year-round opportunity for any TCA member company to participate. Each year, the submittal process closes at the end of June to allow for the evaluation and award process that culminates with public announcement of the recipients during the TCA’s Convention in the fall. This year’s winning projects will be announced at the 2012 TCA Annual Convention in Amelia Island Florida on October 4.
Judges are selected from a group of industry professionals including members of the industry and the media. To find out more about this program, the requirements and TCA membership in general, interested persons can visit www.tilt-up.org/awards or contact Mitch Bloomquist.
The TCA Awards Program recognizes outstanding site cast Tilt-Up structures and advances in technology, products and methods used in the Tilt-Up industry. Submitters must be a member of the TCA and are required to submit a one-page abstract of the project that includes the best photo as well as the top three reasons why the project is worthy of consideration for an Achievement Award. Additional project details are requested including the participants, key features and statistics and the industry technology and materials involved.

About the TCA
TCA was founded in 1986 to improve the quality and acceptance of site cast Tilt-Up construction, a construction method in which concrete wall panels are cast on-site and tilted into place. Tilt-Up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment.
