A new mobile application designed to help concrete contractors evaluate weather conditions and document placement activities is now available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PourDay, developed by TCA member Steller Concrete, provides weather-based guidance for concrete placements using the evaporation rate methodology outlined in ACI 305R. The application evaluates forecasted conditions and presents users with GO, CAUTION, or WARNING recommendations based on anticipated evaporation rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The app was developed by Doug Stelle, owner and CEO of Steller Concrete. A Kansas City native, Stelle began his career in commercial concrete construction managing tilt-up and slab-on-grade crews before founding Steller Concrete in 2012. His experience in the field informed the development of a tool intended to provide contractors with timely weather information and project documentation capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to real-time weather analysis, PourDay includes forecasting capabilities extending up to 16 days and allows users to log mix information and pour details. The platform can also generate PDF reports that document project conditions and placement records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Managing evaporation rates remains an important consideration for concrete construction, particularly when weather conditions increase the potential for rapid moisture loss from exposed concrete surfaces. Tools that help contractors evaluate environmental conditions and maintain project records can support planning and quality-control efforts before and during placement activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the company, the application is available at no cost to concrete contractors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
