As I moved from one moment to the next\u2014individuals stepping forward, receiving recognition, pausing briefly as the room responded\u2014I found myself thinking about what these moments represent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a line from a film I have always appreciated that speaks to the value of having someone who will \u201cbear witness\u201d to a life\u2014not to evaluate or define it, but simply to see it, and to affirm that it has mattered. That idea stayed with me as I worked through these images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>If the Association existed only to affirm the careers of those who have shaped this industry, it would be enough.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The Awards program gives form to that belief. We recognize projects, certainly, but also the people and organizations behind them\u2014those whose efforts, decisions, and leadership have carried this work forward. To submit work into this process is, in some sense, to allow it to be seen\u2014to become part of the collective record of the industry and its advancement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This work finds its fullest expression when we gather. In October, we will come together in&nbsp;Salt Lake City&nbsp;for the Tilt-Up Convention and Expo. These few days create a setting where work is not only shared, but understood\u2014set within a broader context and acknowledged by peers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We often describe the value of gathering in practical terms\u2014education, exchange, advancement. These are essential. But there is also a quieter function: to recognize one another, to affirm contribution, and to ensure that the work\u2014and the lives behind it\u2014do not go unnoticed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In that sense, the act of gathering is not incidental to our work. It is foundational to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Awards submittals are due June 1.
