The study, spearheaded by TCA\u2019s new young professionals\u2019 collaborative, TILT (Tilt-Up Industry Leaders of Tomorrow), will be organized around five typical details.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Roof Structure to Panel: These connections transmit gravity; wind uplift; out-of-plane wind and seismic; in-plane wind and seismic forces.<\/li><li>Supported Floor Structure to Panel: These connections transmit gravity, out-of-plane wind and seismic forces, thermal bowing, in-plane wind and seismic forces.<\/li><li>Panel to Slab on Grade: These connections transmit out-of-plane wind and seismic forces, thermal bowing, lateral earth pressure, in-plane wind and seismic forces.<\/li><li>Panel to Footing: These connections transmit out-of-plane wind and seismic forces, in-plane wind and seismic forces, and uplift due to overturning.<\/li><li>Panel to Panel: These connections transmit in-plane wind and seismic forces to resist overturning and differential bowing.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"753\" src=\"http:\/\/tilt-up.org\/tilt-uptoday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Details_Foundation-1-r-1024x753.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14492\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tilt-up.org\/tilt-uptoday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Details_Foundation-1-r-1024x753.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/tilt-up.org\/tilt-uptoday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Details_Foundation-1-r-300x221.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tilt-up.org\/tilt-uptoday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Details_Foundation-1-r-768x565.jpg 768w, https:\/\/tilt-up.org\/tilt-uptoday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Details_Foundation-1-r.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs part of the new TILT group, we are following through on some established directives to help grow and educate membership of the TCA through an expansion of the TCA\u2019s resources,\u201d said Chad Marshall, co-chair of TILT\u2019s Delivery Category of Engagement. \u201cThese directives were established during the TILT kick-off event during World of Concrete in 2019 and have developed through meetings and collaborations over the past few months. We, as part of TILT, are in need of members\u2019 help to grow and see this initiative come to life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe focus of TILT\u2019s Delivery Category of Engagement is to unify the method by which design information for tilt-up construction is passed from the design team to the construction team,\u201d said Dylan James, co-chair. \u201cThis study is a first step in understanding a potential information gap.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the course of the two-year study, the group will focus on the detail types listed above, one at a time. With each type, they will perform the following process:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"791\" src=\"http:\/\/tilt-up.org\/tilt-uptoday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Details_Roof-1-r-1024x791.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14494\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tilt-up.org\/tilt-uptoday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Details_Roof-1-r-1024x791.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/tilt-up.org\/tilt-uptoday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Details_Roof-1-r-300x232.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tilt-up.org\/tilt-uptoday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Details_Roof-1-r-768x593.jpg 768w, https:\/\/tilt-up.org\/tilt-uptoday\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Details_Roof-1-r.jpg 1080w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Collect representative examples from tilt-up engineers, architects, and contractors from across the United States and Canada.<\/li><li>Model each submitted detail using building information modeling, applying design standards that allow for easy comparison.<\/li><li>Study differences and similarities between details and consider environmental, geographic, and regulatory explanations for variations.<\/li><li>Publish findings and recommendations for the good of the industry.<\/li><li>Add TCA recommended details to online detail library.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>With this announcement, the TCA formally requests submittals of non-proprietary panel to foundation details. Details must be submitted by February 1, 2020 to be included in the study and can be communicated by PDF, or formatted for Revit or AutoCAD, and sent to tilt@tilt-up.org.
