For years, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA)<\/strong> has been educating architects across the globe about the architectural advantages of the tilt-up building system. Recently, the architecture and design event of the year took place in the fabulous Las Vegas, and with over 750 exhibitors, over 500 education sessions, networking, tours and parties, the TCA did not go unnoticed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TCA\u2019s booth at the 2019 AIA Conference on Architecture caught the eye of hundreds of architects. In showing off the beauty of tilt-up construction through videos on Confluence Park River Pavilion, designed by Lake|Flato Architects + Matsys, and the Cloud Song Center at Scottsdale Community College, designed by Architekton, attendees were able to see just how far the building system has come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMost of the attendees were very familiar with tilt-up design and construction,\u201d said Lindsey Bloomquist, manager of communications and networking for the TCA. \u201cOverall, they couldn\u2019t believe how far the system has come over the years, and were stunned of the design capabilities available today.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the case study highlights, the TCA also showcased \u201cTilt-Up as a Reemerging Design Technology,\u201d answering the ever-so-popular question from design professionals: Will design innovation suffer at the integration of less costly building methods? Perhaps not. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAttendees were stopped in their tracks when they saw the projects that are featured in this video,\u201d said Bloomquist. \u201cIt was obvious that the aesthetics of today\u2019s design capabilities are deeply attractive to design professionals from all corners of the world, and the dedication and commitment of our members who are advancing the tilt-up industry does not go without recognition.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In conjunction with the videos that were displayed, the TCA handed out copies of Tiltwallism by Jeffrey Brown, FAIA, FTCA, founding principal and CEO of Powers Brown Architecture. Tiltwallism is an introductory resource to architects and an inspiration to contractors, developers and structural consultants who have encountered tilt-wall construction. Brown provides a full synthetic treatment of tilt-wall construction, explaining its history, methodology, and relationship to the current architectural approaches to meaning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
