Projects were reviewed by a panel of judges, representing the TCA membership, educational institutions, publishing and industry management. As in previous years, submittals were judged on aesthetic expression, schedule, size, originality, finishes and special conditions; all characteristics of the projects that would attract and hold the interest of those skeptical of the potential as well as challenging experienced professionals to broaden their ideas for potential. Ultimately, the competition is designed to raise awareness not only of the effectiveness and maturity of the market, but also the professional experience of TCA members throughout the world.

“This year’s projects stand firm against the mounting pressure of the economy and recession that have seemingly hand-cuffed the construction industry,” states Jim Baty, Technical Director of the TCA. “They evidence the capacity and potential at the disposal of the architect, engineer and designer to meet the complex needs of building programs today in solutions that are sensitive to both cost and schedule.
