With 23 years of experience spanning structural design, sustainability leadership, and technical advocacy, Erika Winters-Downey has built a unique career bridging the worlds of structural engineering, environmental stewardship, and cross-sector collaboration. She currently serves as Director, Structural Quality & Sustainability at Clayco Design & Engineering, an arm of the $9B Clayco enterprise. In this role she leads quality, innovation, and embodied carbon strategy across enterprise projects and guides multi-disciplinary teams toward high-impact, low-carbon outcomes. She authored enterprise templates for Whole Building LCA and Waste Reduction, spearheaded low-carbon concrete testing initiatives for hyperscale clients, and served as a key architect for SE 2050 and AIA 2030 implementation strategies. She is the immediate past board chair of USGBC Central Plains.
