Karen Hand, PE

President
Needham DBS

Karen was appointed President of Needham DBS in July 2018. She oversees the operations for the Kansas City office. With a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management, Karen has been focusing her efforts on business development, marketing and sales for the firm. Karen is currently responsible for engineering management, project management and engineering for Needham DBS. Karen began working with tilt-up construction upon joining Needham DBS. She has experience with design and detailing of specialty applications for tilt-up panels. Karen understands construction methods as a result of hands on experience and the close relationships she develops with her design-build clients and contractors.

Founded in 1986, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) strives to improve the quality and acceptance of site-cast Tilt-Up construction - one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment. Over 10,000 buildings, enclosing more than 650 million square feet, are constructed each year using this construction method.
