Design Vision & Story

October 22, 2026 from 7:00am to 8:00am Mountain Standard Time

Todd Kesley

Daniel Masten

At the intersection of architectural ambition and constructability, tilt-up panels require early alignment across disciplines to achieve meaningful results. This session examines how that alignment is established and carried through project delivery, using case studies to illustrate how initial concepts are translated into built form. Focus will be placed on the decisions that shape panel design, detailing, sequencing, and material expression, as well as the collaborative processes that guide those outcomes. The session positions tilt-up as a system capable of supporting design-driven work while maintaining the technical rigor necessary to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Understand how design intent is translated into buildable tilt-up systems through early interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Evaluate when tilt-up construction is appropriate based on architectural, structural, material, and economic considerations.
  • Explore innovative panel design strategies alongside the detailing, engineering, and sequencing required for successful execution.
  • Learn how collaboration among architects, engineers, contractors, and trade partners informs panel fabrication, erection, and overall project delivery.
