We all know that the big day on a tilt-up job is the day that panel lifting commences. It is also one of the most critical events in time where all safety practices and procedures are adhered to in order to assure everyone's well being, and to provide the customer with the confidence in you, as well as the system of tilt-up construction. This program will discuss some of the impactful practices that will help for a safe and successful erection process, some of which may appear minor in nature, but can have significant impact on the outcome. Some of the topics we will discuss in detail include: Hazard identification, whether underground or overhead, Experience of crew and individual crew member assignments, Critical Lift Plan review, Limited Access Zones, Rigging identification and inspection, Sequencing and unusual circumstances, and several tips and tricks that are sure to save time, money and lives. With careful planning and consistent safety practices, we can all provide our internal and external customers with positive and rewarding experiences that will continue to enhance our industry and have them coming back for more!
At Innovative Structural Solutions (INNSTRUCT) we have developed the Total Integrated Panel System (TIPS), a technology and process that acts as the primary structural and insulating member in conventional tilt-up construction. TIPS sets 4" of expanded polystyrene between 2 layers of welded wire mesh fabric. These are then joined together by diagonal truss wires. Because of the extreme strength of this pyramidal system, TIPS walls can be built with as little as 5" of total concrete in a 9" insulated tilt-up panel. The system reduces the amount of added rebar by 60-90% and concrete material by 30-50%, depending on the panel design. This drastic reduction in materials, along with the incredible strength of our system, creates a panel that is up to 50% lighter and much easier to work with than traditional tilt-up methods.?
We have always looked at tilt-wall as an evolving artform. There are many things that we considered pushing the envelope a decade or two ago that are now commonplace or outdated. At Seretta, we take our role as an industry leader seriously and are constantly looking for and trying out potentially new and better ways to perform our work. We know that if you become complacent, you will become outdated. At Seretta, we use only the latest and most advanced chemicals, equipment, software, methodologies and technologies so that we continue to produce the highest quality work in the shortest amount of time.
Our team has been in the architectural precast / pre-stressed business for over 40 years. During that time we have made insulated wall panels using every system. We understand which designs work and more importantly which do NOT work for various reasons including; design code, production efficiency and engineering requirements.
