When designing floors with joints, load transfer capacities and the reduction of load capacity at joints and at the slabs’ edges are not fully realized and accounted for, not even in the most prominent floor slab industry guides throughout the world. This presentation gives an overview of load transfer at joints and describes actual testing that has been done, bringing us to a fuller understanding of load transfer capacity in various jointing systems.
