TCA Launches Niche Job Board For Tilt-Up Industry

Español | Translation Sponsored by TCA

The Tilt-Up Concrete Association is proud to offer members a new benefit to utilize in communicating with potential job applicants.

With unemployment at record lows, talent shortage remains one of the biggest hurdles employers face. In an article titled, “Trends & Insights in Hiring Talented Candidates in 2018,” Talent Now suggests that in this candidate-driven recruitment market, top candidates remain available for around 10 days before getting hired. This means efficient and effective tools for attracting candidates are essential.

Questions surround the effectiveness of mega job boards due to the sheer number of participants, the myriad of similar vehicles (Indeed, CareerBuilder, Dice, Monster, Glassdoor, LinkedIn, etc.) and the simple fact that many jobs never reach these boards. Niche job boards, however, have proven to be more successful.

What is a niche job board?

In general, niche job boards are smaller and often location or industry focused. They aim to attract very specific candidates possessing specialized skills and relevant experience. As industry-focused resources, niche job boards are often managed by trade associations or professional organizations. A white paper titled, “The Power of Niche Job Boards,” published by iCIMS, a technology provider for talent acquisition professionals, suggests that through niche job boards, “[…] recruiters report improved quality of candidates because candidates belonging to and seeking jobs through a professional association are often substantially more focused on career, skill, and trade development.”

There are two additional powerful benefits to associating recruitment with your participation in the Tilt-Up Concrete Association.

Networking

The association features many contractors, engineers, architects and suppliers with specific expertise and/or focus on the tilt-up industry, and one of the primary benefits of membership is access to these professionals. Despite the myriad of bells and whistles out there to assist job seekers and employers alike, intentional networking remains the most powerful and effective tool for facilitating successful and symbiotic matches. Through the TCA job board, members are able to leverage and connect their networking activities directly and recognizably to their recruitment efforts.

Employer Branding

Active participation in the TCA on committees, at events, in publications, and in other ways, causes companies to be known entities. The TCA is a great vehicle through which to manage employer branding, which turns out to be an incredibly important factor for job seekers. Talent Now reports that when making a decision on where to apply for a job, 84 percent of job seekers say reputation of a company as an employer is important. Fifty percent of candidates say they would not work for a company with a bad reputation – even for a pay increase.
