/>Powers Brown Architecture announces the appointment of founding principal Jeffrey Brown, FAIA to the position of CEO. Brown will oversee the resources, development and management of the company’s international practice, including establishment of future locations and growth in existing markets. These include the Denver and Washington, D.C. office locations established in the past five to ten years. More recently, in 2015, the firm established offices in Canada, and Brown will oversee their consolidation in Toronto. He will maintain his role as Creative Director for the firm.

Brown has been practicing architecture for more than 25 years and has an array of experience working on multiple building types for both public and private entities; he is an accomplished designer with unique graphic communication and strategic planning skills.

Brown has been instrumental in leading the firm to receive numerous awards, including a Citation in the 2012 Annual Design Review from Architect magazine and recognition from the Tilt-Up Concrete Association as the 2008 and 2014 recipient of the Irving Gill Distinguished Architect Award for the firm’s and his own contribution to the design and advancement of tilt-wall construction.

Additional accolades have come from the Texas Society of Architects, American Institute of Architects Houston, AIA|DC, Design Excellence Awards and the Urban Land Institute. The firm’s work has been widely covered in magazines and books, including Brown’s latest, Tiltwallism: A Treatise on the Architectural Potential of Tilt Wall Construction.

In 2016, Brown was elevated to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects. This fellowship program was developed to elevate those architects who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession. Election to fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of architects as individuals, but also their significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level.

Powers Brown Architecture was formed in September 1999 by Brown and Joe Powers, AIA who wanted to apply their collective knowledge, accumulated over decades of working for other firms, to create a 21st-century architecture firm focused on growing and adapting to market forces while still providing high design and outstanding client support.
